Pilates and Yoga

Pilates is based on the belief that quality of movement and attention to precise body mechanics are valued over quantity of repetitions.  It focuses on strengthening the core (abdominals and low back).  A strong core will improve posture and abdominal tone, help prevent back injuries and increase power for sports. Individualized attention ensures that you learn the proper breathing and movement patterns to attain your goals more quickly.

Equipment may or may not be used, and this can include bands, rollers, pilates ball and strength rings.  Equipment will allow you to maximize your efforts when you have mastered the basic mat exercises.

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise and stress reduction.  It builds stamina, flexibility and endurance.  It’s slow pace is ideal for those recovering from injuries.  Yoga is an ideal compliment to high-intensity workouts and to improve overall balance and flexibility.

I have been teaching yoga for over ten years, including Pre and post natal, Power yoga, children’s yoga, and yoga to cancer patients.
